Monica Hsu 徐麗芬

Born in Taiwan then immigrated to the US in 1988 after finishing Business School. Ms. Hsu’s love for art since childhood helps to pursue the eminent cause for preserving traditional Taiwanese culture in her arbitrary and unique oil paintings. Her love for Taiwan is clearly illustrated in each of her fine works over the years.

Conveying both younger and older generations of Taiwanese to realize the historic importance of how their people lived and what it means to be Taiwanese is one of her most determined goals in life. It is through this love and passion that carries her to be one of the most recognizable artists in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Aside from preserving Taiwanese culture through her artworks, Ms. Hsu indulges in creating vivid still life of Western culture. Using her traditional oil-painting technique, she captures a multitude of different audiences in the United States.

She earned numerous awards including 1st Place at the 2002 Los Gatos Museum Show and 2nd Place at El Cerritos Art Show clearly identify acceptance. In the 2006 American Artist Magazine competition, Ms. Hsu’s work was the top 10 winner. All those awards and honors clearly identify a popular acceptance of her artworks. Above all, she is an inspiration and encouragement for Asian American artists to make their mark bridging the East and West.
