Chiang Sheng Johnny Kuo 郭強生, Violinist
A Taiwan native, raised in Long Island New York, Dr. Johnny Kuo as an adolescent he developed a passion for both medicine and classical music. In High School he studied the art of violin at the Manhattan School of Music and succeeded into Julliard Pre-College Division where he earned the privilege to play with the New York Youth Symphony. An honor for young Kuo, considering renowned violinist Cho-Liang Lin had played with this orchestra the year before. This level of commitment and passion translated into his college years as he decided to pursue medicine. He completed his undergraduate University of Buffalo and graduate medical training in US. He continued on to earn his Doctorate in Public Health at Columbia University and a Master’s of Art Degree in Music Education at Columbia University’s Teachers College.
As the current Chief Operating Officer of New York Gracie Square Hospital, his constant focus is providing the best possible health care in a safe and compassionate environment. He encourages everyone to embrace the personal high quality, patient-centered care that its facility has come to be known for. Over the years. Dr. Kuo has earned many accolades. Some of these honors include Distinguished Leadership in Healthcare Commendation by former NYC Comptroller Hon. John Liu, Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Administrators, Fellow of the American Society of Healthcare Risk Management, Fellow of the American College of Mental Health Administration, and a recent nomination to the Who’s Who Executive and Professional Registry / Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare. As a person skilled and specializing in healthcare, Dr. Kuo remains dedicated to the ever evolving nature of this industry as a constant leader. 郭強生出生於台灣，成長於紐約長島。他從小熱愛醫學和古典音樂，在中學時就表現出音樂才能，進入著名的曼哈頓音樂學校(Juillard School of Music Precollege division)學習，曾跟後來成爲著名小提琴家的林昭亮先生同在〈紐約青年交響樂團〉。郭強生在紐約州立大學醫學院水牛城分校畢業後，又分別獲得哥倫比亞大學行政管理博士及音樂敎育碩士。
在行政管理方面，郭強生曾做過多種醫療主管級別的管理工作，過去十餘年來，一直擴任紐約市r葛麗西廣場醫院」New York Grade Square Hospital副院長。郭強生作爲副院長，負責醫院的整體行政運作•他以「安全、熱忱、最佳服務」的三大理念來優質管理，使該院不僅以此聞名，在醫療管理方面，郭強生所獾的榮譽有：美國醫學管理(FACHCA)院士、美國醫學危機 管理(FASHRM)院士、美國醫學精神醫療管理(FACMHA)院士 ；並榮登〈行政與專業世界名人錄〉（Who’s Who Executive and Professional Registry);〈醫學和管理世界名人錄〉（Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare)等。
在社區服務方面，郭強生曾任〈傳染病專家播會〉（New York APIC Chapter)分會長。現 任紐約〈布魯克林亞裔聯盟〉（BRAVO)顧問； <非湘與美洲醫學基金會〉（AAHF)理 事； < 紐約醫學品質管理〉（NYHQ)理事；〈 醫學主管雜誌〉（Advisory Board of Executive Insight)顧問等。
近期郭強生醫師又獲得兩項殊榮：一是紐約市前主計長劉醇逸(John Liu)在「布魯克林亞 裔聯盟」年慶上，頒贈郭強生博士之醫學界〈領導有方讚賞獎〉；二是美國〈現代醫療> 週刊(Modem Healthcare Magazine)於芝加哥將郭強生博士選入2011年〈全美頂尖25位少數族裔醫療總監>。
在音樂方面，郭強生在繁忙的醫學管理工作之餘，仍堅持毎天練琴，嫻熟、精通小提琴與鋼琴演奏。四年前，郭強生考入總部在德國柏林的全球聞名之〈世界醫師交響樂團〉（World Doctor Orchestra) •曾登台演出於美國克裡夫蘭音樂廳、柏林愛樂交響樂團音樂廳等，並隨該樂團於2010年在柏林歌劇院演出，後又在台灣的國家音樂廳演出。在郭強生博士等聯絡和推動下，<世界醫師交響樂團〉赴中國，在北京國家大劇院和上海東方藝術中心分別演出。
郭強生博士曾參加首届 <亞洲業餘節慶交響樂團〉於日本九州福岡市的演出，演出非常成功，日本皇室憲仁 親王妃久子Chair Person親臨觀賞。而且今年八月將於Shizuoka日本靜岡縣_舉辦首屆〈世界業餘節慶交響樂團〉。
除參與〈世界醫師交響樂團〉演出等，郭強生博士還參與創立了〈世界文明交響樂團〉 (World Civic Orchestra) ，並擔任理事長至今。2010年6月，郭博士將該團帶進國際聞名的紐約市卡內基音樂廳，舉行其世界首演。 <世界文明交響樂團〉也演奏於愛麗斯特莉廳，完成其 <林肯中心〉之首演。
除致力〈世界醫師交響樂團〉 和領導〈世界文明交響樂團〉 等，郭強生博士還特別注重培養下一代音樂人才，他目前擔任 〈紐約幼獅青少年管弦樂團〉 的弦樂指導敎授。
